When entering a new relationship, there are countless questions we want to ask. The desire to know everything about our new partner’s past is intoxicating and exciting. While there are many topics we want to talk about, below I have put the 4 most important questions you should ask at the start of something new. How often would you like to see each other? This question is SO important for me when I enter a new relationship. I value my alone time as well as my independence.

I am not the type of person that can hang out with a guy 7 days a week. I need to know that my new love interest can handle spending time apart and won’t get upset over it. Not to say I don’t want to spend time with them, but having your own space is important. What are your feelings about constant communication? This question has become increasingly important as instant communication technology grows. Nowadays it is possible to talk to each other constantly throughout the day.

Whether this is via texting, Snap chat, Facebook messenger, or Skype, it is totally possible to be talking all day everyday. I always like to ask my new partner about their feelings on talking throughout the day. I can’t handle being glued to my phone constantly, so I need to be with someone who appreciates a little bit of space. What are some of your pet peeves? This is a big one. When you first start dating someone new they usually don’t reveal all of the little things you do that annoy them.

Now, I’m not saying to open the flood gates and list every little annoying quality about your partner. Politely ask them what are some things that bother them. For example, mine is constantly asking if I’m upset. There are some days where I’m just quiet, I’d let you know if I am upset, stop asking! It is important to talk about the little things that could cause problems in the relationship later down the road. This question is just another way to see how compatible you really are
